Something’s Gotta Go: 5 Time-Saving Tips To Ace Your Morning Routine

If your morning routine ends in a mad dash out the door and leaves you wondering why you couldn’t fit in breakfast – although you somehow managed to scroll social media- it’s time to do some sunrise soul searching. An efficient a.m. frees up hours to kill it in your career and sets the tone for a successful day ahead.

Being the beauty devotees that we are, skimping on primping is not an option, so we’ve put together some time-saving tweaks to help you leave the house feeling gorgeous, refreshed and ready to conquer the world.

  • Don’t look at your phone.

Eliminating technology from your waking hours will not only save time, but may help you stay clear-headed throughout the day. Maybe you could use the moments not looking at a screen to practice 20 minutes of morning meditation? The benefits could be immeasurable. If you have to peek, perhaps limit yourself to looking, but not responding! Those chats and posts can wait until you’re out the door. And if you can’t help but engage, stay focused, and just do a quick scan for imperative emails.

  • Bypass the hair dryer (sometimes).

Why not take your cues from the minimally styled tresses shown on recent runways? You could put leave-in conditioner on your hair, towel dry and head out the door! It’s a more natural look, and will save you a lot of time. Or you could just do a touch-up with a curling iron or flat iron as a quick alternative to washing and drying too, or pull your hair back into a slick ponytail to buy extra time in between shampoos.

  • Organise your beauty stash.

Build an easy-access pouch of everyday essentials for an on-the-go kit to take with you for quick touch-ups. Keep the products that you’re more likely to use for a special night out – bold lipstick, dramatic eyeshadow – in a separate place. You’ll cut down on so much time knowing exactly which products you’re using and having them at your fingertips.

  • Plan your outfit the night before.

A pre-planned fabulous ensemble can be extra motivation to get out of bed, and choosing your look will force you to consider your goals for the next day and strategise to be more productive. Consider any big meetings you might have or special plans (like going to the gym after work). And, of course, be sure to check the weather!

  • Master your morning menu.

To ensure that you don’t skip breakfast – or have to run out of the office the moment you arrive to grab a much-needed coffee and croissant – stock up on healthy eats in advance. Why not make your shopping list based on meals you have planned for the week ahead? It will not only save you money, but free you up to fit in all the other things you have planned for your day!
